Sandy's ExperienceSandy Rumbolo shares her experience on the 21 day retreat: I've never gone on a retreat before, but when Joel said how different Bernie was than other teachers, and how profound an impression Bernie made on him, going on the Fiji retreat just seemed like the right thing to do and it sure was. It's not easy to put into words what I got out of the retreat but the summary is that it was absolutely amazing. Every word Bernie said made sense to me (and maybe because he didn't use a lot esoteric words...he was just a man talking to all of us) and therefore I was happy to be there.I felt connected to others, individually and as a group. We often interacted in groups (2-5 people) and it was very natural to discuss my experiences with others…very easy to be honest and truthful while I was learning about myself…my inner self…my freedom. As my ego arose, it was often emotional but releasing those emotions, while sometimes painful, brought about a sense of love I have never felt before. And then there was this difference in the way Joel and I interacted. I knew this retreat was really working. We were able to communicate better than ever before...and love better than ever before...and after 42 years together, that's a good thing. We had become very stagnant in our relationship and now we're not...it’s that simple! And now, back home, we're doing some of the same things but it just seems different...and it’s the little differences that you sometimes notice, that are the best. Like even a hug being better is good enough for me to know that there are bigger and better things ahead for me and Joel.
